Look At Our World Today Look at our world now a days... It is a mess. Our world is completely lost. They are going against everything that God asks of us. In our schools now a days, we are surrounded by drugs, alcohol, and sex. Those have become horrible in our schools. Our schools are now where you are looked down on if you are a Christian. And for the most part, we as Christians take that. We do not stick up for ourselves, but most importantly we do not stick up for our God. Christians now a days, just try to go with the crowd and fit in. A lot of the times we hide our faith. We hold it in and are not outspoken about it because we do not want others to say things like " look at that guy" or "what a loser and a goody good". Why do we do that? Why do we take so much pride in worldly things like our ipods and game systems and our sports that we play. Why do we rejoice in those things, but when put in a crowd of non-believers we don't rejoice and say how awesome our God is. Man, we will boast and boast about what material things we have or the talents we were blessed with but we won't step up and boast about our God. The God that created the heavens and the earth, the alpha and the omega, the one who knows everything, the one who made you and me. No, we sit back in our desks and just let our opportunities to spread His word go by not even feeling guilty. As Christians we are called to go out unto the world and change it. We are suppose to go out and make disciples. It says in Matthew 28:19 and 20- "Therefore go and make disciples of many nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." We are called to go out and speak the word. So, why do we not do that. Why are we so scared of what people think of us? Why won't we stand up for Him and live for Him? When you hear people talking about going and getting drunk and doing things that are ungodly, step up. When you are asked to go party or get drunk, say no! When you sit in class and people are talking about things that they shouldn't, tell them to stop and that that is not what they need to say. Like I said above, we are so quick to boast about what we have on this world but we are so quite about what we have in our hearts. We just go with the crowd and go against what God wants, even when we know that it is wrong. We just try to avoid conflict! We just try to fit in when, in that case, fitting in is not what we need. When Jesus came down to save us, do you think he just went with the crowd? No, Jesus was different than everyone! He stuck out like a sore thumb! He did not go with the world. He was better than that and as Christians we are called to be better than the world. Why are we so scared to speak up? The worst we get is weird looks and talk. Jesus and the apostles went through physical punishment and in many cases they were killed. Yet, we can't stand up for him when people are talking about sex and alcohol? One thing that became apparent to me in the last two years is this. That I don't give a rip what you think about me. I don't care if you like me or not. And I face that everyday. I have people that do not like me because I refuse to drink. I have had my mind set, that I will not change my views and my beliefs for anyone. During camp one of my good friends told me this and I believe it fully. John15:18-If the world hates you; keep in mind that they hated me first. The world is going to hate you for your beliefs. That is something you just have to live with. But there will be even more who love you and respect you for them. I have been reading an amazing book called the irresistible revolution by Shane Claiborne and he has a quote that says this …"We decided to stop complaining about the church we saw and we set our hearts on becoming the church we dreamed of" And the same goes for our school. He also says this that "What the world needs is people who believe so much in another world that they can't help but enacting it now" It says in Jeremiah 1:4-10 this… So, do not be afraid of the people and of what they think and do not be afraid of kingdoms and nations We are his body, his hands and his feet So I leave you with one last thing. You as a Christian need to step up All of us need to step up and shine for God and live for Him and set examples, especially those guys who are in sports and you seniors. In 1 Timothy 1:7 it says this "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self-discipline." So step up for your beliefs. Do not fall in with the crowd.
