Are You Living the Life of a Convenient Christian?

Whenever I was 8 or 9, I remember certain people in my life who were die hard Christians. Now when I look at those friends, very few can I say that they have not strayed from Him. Almost all my friends have given into peer pressure and have fallen from the die-hard attitude that we as Christians need to have. So this was brought up by what my friend said at the football game last Friday. As we were walking out from the game, my friend and I were talking about a friend of ours who was known for being a great guy and a great Christian. Sadly, we found out that through high school and other events, he had strayed from Christ and was living a lukewarm Christian walk. He then looked at me and said, “I hate convenient Christians!!!” His words did not really mean so much until I got home and I thought about how true that is in our world today. This is something that I have always sworn I would not become a part of. The world has so many temptations and the standards of the world today make it easier than ever to compromise and do what is convenient. That is not what Christ asks of us! Being a Christian means we go against the meanings of the world! Living the life of a real Christian is tough! There is no getting around it. IF BEING A CHRISTIAN WAS CONVENIENT THAN EVERYONE WOULD BE A CHRISTIAN!!! So, this is where I give you a challenge. Are you living the life of a radical Christian? Are you completely living for Him? Is your life based around Him? We as Christians should be on fire for God! Now, this is the question that is so tough for me to answer. Are you living the life of a convenient Christian? Are you just doing what is convenient at the time? Is your life as a Christian easy? The reason that it is so tough for me to answer is because a lot of the time, I like to just sit back and be content with what I am doing with my walk. I like my life to be perfect and easy. That is not the way that we are called to be. Whenever we are being radical about our God ( You know the God who created the universe, the stars, the animals. The one who created you and me. The God who can move the mountains, the one who makes demons shudder at His name. Yea, that God) Whenever we decide to sell out for Him, our life is not easy. So the question I ask you today is this: How are you living your life? Are you radical about Christ? Or are you just doing what feels good? What is the easiest? Are you living the life of a convenient Christian?
