Are you letting God take control? Ok, so been swamped down with English papers and such so this is the first note in a long time!!! Sorry, or your welcome! Can't decide which one it is! So this is something that I have been thinking about writing on for a while and I think God is finally telling me to write it, so I hope this helps someone! All right, so this summer my co-counselor shared with me his favorite verse, his life vese. His life verse was John 3:30: "He must become greater; I must become less." This is a real short verse that really packs a punch! (Wow, sound like my mother with these old cheesy quotes) This verse has stuck with me ever since he gave his testimony and mentioned this verse! I had never really heard it or at least it never stuck. This time it stuck! It has given me a way of living! What I have gotten out of this is that we are not in charge of our lives! We must completely submit to Him! My uncle sent me an email this week with a quote that I believe goes with this verse and what I want to talk about. It said: Good Morning! This is God. I will be handling your problems today. I do not need your help…so have a good day. This e-mail made me laugh! This is something that I struggle with and that we all struggle with. We seemed to think that we need to do things ourselves! We have trouble letting the reigns go, and letting God steer them. This quote tells you exactly what our attitude should be. When we wake up we should let God lead us where HE wants us to go! We should not try to be the "master mind" behind everything because God is far better at that than we are. We should merely be God's hands and feet! Now, whenever I first thought about this verse, I never could understand why I need to be less so he can be more? I mean, that did not make much since! I heard a preacher speak on this issue once, and he said that he also was confused by what He meant but he finally realized what Christ was saying. He said that if you put too much of "you" into something, if you put more than God wants, than God is not shown as much in the end! You are shown more than He is! Whenever we completely take ourselves out of the picture and let God take over, there is no one who can deny His awesome power! The way this preacher taught this lesson really got me to understand this verse! Now, to take a different angle on this! This verse has also helped me in times of struggling! Everyone gets swamped down in work, tests, just life in general. Everyone gets there bad days and bad weeks. This verse tells you exactly what you need to do to improve it! To give an example, I lost my wallet last week. I also found out that I had to find some money to pay for a door. All of this happened when I was on the edge of breaking in school! I could barely take another day of school and everything seemed as if it was crashing! And God put this verse in my head. I came to realize that I had to lean on Him to get out of this hole. I had been trying my best to get out of it by myself! I was trying everything but praying and asking Him to help me! Whenever I did ask Him, He carried me! Reminds me of the footprints poem! God carries us through the tough times! I was blessed to meet someone who brought up a really good point. She said: "Isn't it funny that people think that asking God for help will not help them, so they just try to do it on their own?" (Sorry if it is slightly misquoted) This quote is so true! We sometimes believe that when we are faced with troubles and faced with obstacles that we have to face them ourselves. We believe that we are the only ones who can do anything. Other times we don't think that God can help us; we believe we are the only ones who can fix it. That is when we are completely wrong! All God asks is that we just trust in Him and just become less. When we ask God for help and we ask him to take control, God takes over and solves everything. So, the question and the challenge I leave with you is this: Are you letting God take control? Is he the one who at the end of something miraculous, is shown? Are you becoming less, so the God can become greater? |
